Background of the Study
Alumni engagement is vital for the continued success and growth of universities. In recent years, universities have been exploring new ways to strengthen relationships with their alumni by leveraging technology. Traditional methods of alumni engagement, such as physical meetings and newsletters, can be resource-intensive and inefficient, especially when attempting to reach a large, geographically dispersed alumni base (Gupta & Sharma, 2024). AI-based platforms can automate communication, engagement activities, and event management, providing personalized experiences for alumni while reducing the administrative burden on university staff (Bai & Li, 2023).
At Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Sokoto State, an AI-based automated alumni engagement platform could serve as a means to foster stronger connections with graduates, enhance networking opportunities, and encourage alumni contributions to the university. This study will explore the design and implementation of such a platform, focusing on the integration of AI tools to improve the personalization and efficiency of engagement efforts.
Statement of the Problem
Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto faces challenges in maintaining consistent and meaningful engagement with its alumni. Traditional engagement methods are limited in scope, and alumni often do not feel connected to the university post-graduation. This disconnect reduces the potential for alumni to contribute to the institution’s development. The problem is exacerbated by the difficulty of managing large alumni databases and personalizing engagement efforts. This study aims to address these challenges by designing an AI-powered automated alumni engagement platform that enhances alumni relations, networking, and contributions.
